British Press: Baykar Ushers in a New Era with Kamikaze Drones

According to a report published by the UK-based Middle East Eye, Turkish defense company Baykar is drawing attention with three different kamikaze drone platforms it has developed. The systems, named K2, Sivrisinek, and Mızrak, are intended to create a new concept in modern warfare through coordinated swarm attacks. The report notes that these platforms stand out with more advanced artificial intelligence, autonomous attack capabilities, and electronic warfare resistance compared to Iran's Shahed drones. The K2 model is stated to carry 200 kilograms of munitions, reach a range of 2,000 kilometers, and remain airborne for 13 hours. The system is said to be capable of target detection through visual terrain scanning and AI-assisted positioning without needing satellite navigation. The smaller and lower-cost Sivrisinek model is reported to have a range of 1,000 kilometers and a warhead capacity of over 20 kilograms. Due to its low cost, this system is considered suitable for widespread use and swarm attacks. The Mızrak model is noted to have a range of 1,000 kilometers and a warhead capacity of approximately 40 kilograms, similar in structure to the Shahed-136. The systems are reported to be resilient to electronic warfare environments and capable of reaching targets without GNSS. According to experts, these three platforms can work within a common network to create integrated attack capabilities. The plan involves Sivrisinek drones weakening air defense systems, Mızrak targeting remaining defense elements, and K2 carrying out the final strike on critical targets. Turkish defense experts argue that Iran's drone program has limitations in AI-based swarm attacks and advanced targeting systems, while stating that Turkey has reached a more advanced point in this field. However, experts also note that the effectiveness of these systems in real combat conditions has yet to be tested. This is not investment advice.
