The CEO of Volkswagen's U.S.-based Scout brand has stated that an initial public offering (IPO) is being considered as part of the company's future financing strategies. In an interview with a German newspaper, the CEO indicated that having Scout trade as an independent entity on the stock exchange is a possible path. This announcement reflects Volkswagen's strategic steps for the Scout brand within its expansion plans in the electric vehicle market. Scout is a brand Volkswagen acquired in 2020, aiming to produce off-road vehicles in the U.S. The CEO highlighted the brand's growth potential, noting that an IPO could offer an attractive opportunity for investors. However, he emphasized that this option has not yet been finalized and that the company is primarily focused on strengthening its production and distribution network. Volkswagen plans to compete in the electric SUV and pickup truck segment, particularly in the U.S. market, with the Scout brand. To this end, the company is continuing efforts to establish a production facility in South Carolina. The CEO stated that an IPO could be a tool to finance these investments, but for now, the support of main shareholder Volkswagen is sufficient.
