Better and Coinbase Launch First Crypto-Backed Mortgage

Better and Coinbase have introduced the first traditional mortgage secured by cryptocurrencies. This new product offers a solution for investors seeking a mortgage loan without liquidating their crypto assets. The loan is provided using crypto assets held on Coinbase as collateral. Better's CEO stated that this step allows crypto holders to invest in real estate without selling their assets. Coinbase views this collaboration as a significant step for users on its platform to utilize their crypto assets more efficiently. During the loan process, the value of the crypto assets used as collateral will be monitored regularly, and additional collateral may be required if it falls below a certain threshold. This mechanism is designed to manage credit risk.
