Roche and Nurix Sign $2.3 Billion Blood Cancer Drug Deal

Swiss pharmaceutical giant Roche has announced a deal worth up to $2.3 billion with biotechnology company Nurix Therapeutics to develop a potential drug for blood cancer treatment. Under the agreement, Roche will make an upfront payment of $60 million to Nurix and provide additional payments upon achievement of certain milestones. The collaboration aims to develop a new drug candidate, particularly effective against blood cancers, using Nurix's targeted protein degradation platform. This technology works by eliminating disease-causing proteins and shows promise in cancer types resistant to existing treatments. The total value of the deal can reach $2.3 billion, including the upfront payment, development, regulatory approval, and commercial milestones. Additionally, Roche will pay royalties on sales of the drug if it is successful. With this agreement, Roche aims to strengthen its oncology portfolio and accelerate R&D efforts, especially in the field of blood cancers.
