Canadian Nuvei Acquires Payoneer for $2.75 Billion

Canadian payment company Nuvei has announced it will acquire US-based Payoneer for $2.75 billion to strengthen its presence in cross-border payments. The deal is seen as part of Nuvei's strategy to expand its global payment platform. According to Reuters, Nuvei's offer for Payoneer includes a cash payment of $9.08 per share. This price represents a premium of approximately 30% over Payoneer's 30-day volume-weighted average share price. The transaction has been approved by the boards of both companies. The combined entity is expected to serve a broader customer base in the e-commerce and financial services sectors. Nuvei CEO Philip Fayer stated that the deal will significantly enhance the company's cross-border payment capabilities. Payoneer is known as a platform that facilitates international payments, especially for small and medium-sized businesses. Nuvei, headquartered in Canada, offers payment services in over 200 countries worldwide. The merger is projected to result in an annual transaction volume exceeding $200 billion.
