Oklo and Standard Nuclear Reach Agreement on Nuclear Fuel Reprocessing

Nuclear energy company Oklo has signed an agreement with Standard Nuclear to collaborate on nuclear fuel reprocessing. The partnership aims to reprocess used nuclear fuel for reuse in power generation. Under the deal, Oklo’s advanced conversion technology will be applied to the fuel materials supplied by Standard Nuclear. Oklo stated that the agreement offers a sustainable solution for nuclear waste management and will close the fuel cycle, enhancing resource efficiency. The company emphasized that the reprocessing process, integrated with fast‑reactor technology, represents a significant step toward reducing the environmental impact of nuclear energy. Standard Nuclear said the partnership will strengthen the circular economy model within the nuclear fuel supply chain. The two firms plan to test the reprocessing of a specified quantity of used fuel in the initial phase before scaling up to commercial operations.
