ASELSAN Signs €780 Million Air Defense Agreement

ASELSAN and the Presidency of Defense Industries have signed a new contract for the procurement of air defense systems. In September 2025, a deal worth a total of €1.65 billion was made, and in November 2025, additional contracts worth €1.122 billion 139 million 260 thousand were signed for serial production projects. Most recently, a €780 million contract has accelerated steps toward the procurement of air defense systems. Deliveries are planned between 2027 and 2030. Under the Steel Dome project, systems capable of neutralizing threats in the airspace at all altitudes and ranges are being developed. With the introduction of the SİPER system into inventory, all layers of the Steel Dome have been completed. In low-altitude air defense, systems like KORKUT and GÜRZ provide cost-effective defense against drone swarms and kamikaze UAVs, while the HİSAR system operates in the middle layer. To strengthen Turkey's long-range air defense, NATO's air defense umbrella is expanding. Italy will deploy one SAMP-T air defense battery to the 3rd Main Jet Base Command in Konya. Turkey already hosts Patriot air defense systems from Spain and Germany in Adana and from the US in Malatya under NATO missions. The US and German batteries were deployed due to ballistic threats from Iran. The Ministry of National Defense announced that the Siper system, operating in the high-altitude layer of the Steel Dome, successfully completed a test firing at the Sinop Firing Range. The statement noted that the Siper Air Defense Weapon System destroyed the Super Şimşek aerial target, which executed a high-speed and maneuverable target scenario, achieving full operational capability.
