KKR Acquires EDF's North American Renewable Assets for $4.2 Billion

Private equity firm KKR has signed an agreement to acquire the North American renewable energy portfolio of French energy giant EDF for $4.2 billion. The transaction is seen as part of KKR's strategy to expand its investment in clean energy assets. Under the acquisition, wind, solar, and energy storage projects owned by EDF Renewables North America will come under KKR's control. The portfolio has a total installed capacity of approximately 10 gigawatts across the US and Canada, with some assets already operational and others under development. KKR plans to significantly increase its presence in the renewable energy sector through this deal. The company stated it will continue investing in clean energy infrastructure to capitalize on the global energy transition trend. EDF, meanwhile, is pursuing a strategy to restructure its North American operations and focus on core activities.
