TÇUD President: 19.5 Million Tons of Steel Imports Would Destroy Domestic Producers

Yayan, President of the Turkish Steel Producers Association (TÇUD), stated in an interview with CNBC-e that if 19.5 million tons of steel products are imported into Turkey, it would be impossible for domestic producers to survive. Yayan emphasized that this import volume poses a serious threat to the sector. Yayan noted that current import figures are putting pressure on domestic production and weakening its competitiveness. He particularly highlighted that low-cost imported products are negatively affecting the profitability of the Turkish steel industry and could lead to job losses. The TÇUD President called on the government to take restrictive measures on imports and stressed that urgent steps must be taken to protect domestic producers.
