Iraq Approves Prior Agreements to Review Strategic Oil Transport Pipeline Projects

The Iraqi government has approved a series of pre‑contracts to examine strategic pipeline projects aimed at boosting the country’s oil export capacity. The approved agreements cover collaborations with independent consulting firms that will conduct technical, economic and environmental analyses of the projects. Officials said the review process will assess the cost‑effectiveness of pipeline construction and its integration into regional energy markets. In the initial phase, the potential transport capacity, existing port infrastructure and logistics routes of the projects will be analysed. This information will support Iraq’s strategy to diversify oil exports, particularly by expanding access to Middle Eastern and European markets.
