Novartis Acquires UK Biotech Firm Myricx Bio for Up to $1.5 Billion

Swiss pharmaceutical giant Novartis has agreed to acquire UK-based biotechnology company Myricx Bio to expand its presence in cancer treatment. The total deal value could reach up to $1.5 billion, contingent on the achievement of certain milestones. In the initial phase of the acquisition, Novartis will make an upfront payment of $1.1 billion for Myricx Bio. The remaining $400 million will be paid as additional payments upon achieving targeted clinical and commercial successes. This structure is seen as part of Novartis's strategy to strengthen its oncology portfolio. Myricx Bio is known as a biotech company developing next-generation antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) that could be particularly effective against solid tumors. Novartis aims to enhance its R&D pipeline and commercial potential in cancer drugs through this acquisition. The deal is expected to close in the first half of 2025, pending regulatory approvals.
