Turkey Assigned Critical Role in NATO's $4 Billion Space Project

Turkey has taken on a significant role in NATO's $4 billion 'Space and Surveillance' projects. TÜBİTAK SPACE will develop the İMECE-2 and İMECE-3 satellites, while ASELSAN will design NATO's secure LEO communication satellite network. These projects aim to strengthen NATO's presence in space. TÜBİTAK SPACE will enhance high-resolution imaging and surveillance capacity by developing the second and third versions of the İMECE series. ASELSAN will contribute to NATO's establishment of a secure communication network in low Earth orbit (LEO). This network aims to increase security in military and civilian communications. The total budget for the projects is set at $4 billion, and Turkey's technological competence in this field is drawing international attention.
