GM Boosts Q2 Profitability on Cost Cuts, Raises Full-Year Guidance

General Motors (GM) reported better-than-expected second-quarter financial results. The company increased its quarterly profitability driven by lower costs and, based on this positive development, revised its full-year 2023 financial targets upward. According to the released balance sheet, GM's adjusted earnings per share (EPS) for the second quarter came in at $1.91. This figure surpassed the average analyst estimate of $1.86, creating a surprise. The company's net income for the period was recorded at $2.6 billion. GM management stated that cost-cutting efforts are bearing fruit, emphasizing that efficiency gains, particularly in supply chain and logistics, have positively impacted profitability.
