Tesla's $28 Billion Quarter Fueled by Record Deliveries and Semi Production

Tesla posted a record performance in the fourth quarter of 2023, generating $28 billion in revenue. This achievement was driven by historic highs in delivery volumes and an acceleration in Semi truck production. The company delivered a total of 484,507 vehicles during the quarter, exceeding expectations. The revenue increase was primarily fueled by strong sales of the Model Y and Model 3. Additionally, Tesla's energy storage and solar energy businesses contributed to growth. The commencement of Semi truck production is seen as a key step in Tesla's strategy to expand its presence in the commercial vehicle market. The company's gross profit margin stood at 19.3% for the quarter, a slight decline from the previous quarter. Tesla noted that despite cost reduction efforts, price cuts have put pressure on margins. However, operating cash flow remained strong at $4.3 billion. Tesla's expectations for 2024 include the start of mass production of the Cybertruck and the development of a next-generation platform.
