FIFA Consolidates Tournaments Under Single Entity, Plans Minority Stake Sale

FIFA plans to consolidate the commercial operations of its tournaments, including the World Cup, Women's World Cup, and Club World Cup, under a new entity called 'FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE)'. The initiative is valued at approximately $20 billion, with FIFA aiming to generate around $4.2 billion in revenue from the sale of minority stakes by the end of the year. The organization stated it will retain majority control of the new company and remain the sole authority in football governance and sporting decisions. According to reports in the British press, US investment firm Thrive Capital and JP Morgan are leading the search for investors. The majority of the proceeds are planned to be transferred to FIFA's 211 member associations, thereby increasing development funds to over $10 billion over the next four years. UEFA has strongly reacted to FIFA's initiative. The governing body of European football argued that the plan 'transforms the governance and spirit of football into a commercial entity' and announced that it would consider legal steps if necessary.
