Bayraktar: Natural Gas for 8 Million Households to Be Met by Domestic Production

Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar announced that the first gas will be ignited at the Osman Gazi Floating Production Platform by the end of the year. This development indicates the progress of production activities in the Sakarya Gas Field. According to Bayraktar's statement, with the completion of the second phase in the Sakarya Gas Field, an additional production capacity sufficient for 4 million households will be brought online. Thus, the natural gas needs of a total of 8 million households will be met from domestic resources. This step is considered an important stage in line with Turkey's goals to strengthen energy supply security and reduce external dependence. The increase in domestic gas production may also provide long-term improvement in the energy import bill. The work in the Sakarya Gas Field is a concrete indication of Turkey's steps towards self-sufficiency in natural gas.
