Justice Minister Gürlek: 14 Detained in Fund Investigation

Justice Minister Gürlek announced that a new operation has been conducted as part of an investigation into manipulative transactions in capital markets. In the investigation carried out by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and the Istanbul Provincial Police Department, action was taken in line with the Capital Markets Board's (SPK) market fraud findings regarding transactions in the shares of Katılımevim Tasarruf Finansman (KTLEV), Destek Holding, and Hedef Holding. In simultaneous operations conducted in Istanbul and Aydın, 14 of 15 suspects for whom arrest warrants were issued were captured and taken into custody. One suspect was determined to be abroad. Minister Gürlek stated that within the scope of the investigation, legal proceedings have been initiated against 60 suspects to date, 4 suspects have been arrested, judicial proceedings for 44 suspects in custody are ongoing, and efforts to capture 12 suspects are continuing. Emphasizing that the financial dimension of the investigation is also being examined, Gürlek stated that all judicial and financial measures are being effectively taken to uncover the proceeds of crime, prevent the concealment of assets, and protect the rights of victimized citizens.
