European Commission Approves JD.com's Acquisition of Ceconomy

The European Commission has approved the acquisition of Ceconomy, the parent company of MediaMarkt and Saturn brands, by Chinese e-commerce giant JD.com for 2.2 billion euros. The approval came after the necessary conditions were met. With this acquisition, JD.com will gain access to over a thousand stores in 11 countries, including MediaMarkt stores within Ceconomy. These countries include Turkey, where MediaMarkt has 89 stores. The 2.2 billion euro deal stands out as one of the significant transactions in the European retail sector recently.
